Организации гражданского общества в онлайн-мире: препятствия для работы или преимущества новых форматов?
Дискуссия состоится 20 октября 2020 года с 18:00 до 19:30 (по московскому времени) / с 17:00 до 18:30 (по центрально-европейскому времени) в ZOOM
Языки: русский и английский (с синхронным переводом)

- Как пандемия изменила методы работы и онлайн-присутствие организаций гражданского общества в странах Европы?

It is hard to answer this question, as in some areas work efficiency has grown and in others it has decreased. It depends on the program and how directly we must work with clients.

There has been growth also of some civil society initiatives. For example in helping people in lockdown situation, but in particular (and this is not generally a nice development) the growth of 'alternative thinking' networks questioning government policies in a quite negative and aggressive way

Maybe two other evidences showing that CSOs got new opportunities. First is related to young people declaring they are publicly activly mostly online (see recent results for Poland: https://www.ndi.org/publications/youth-attitudes-politics-and-democracy-poland - but similar data can be found for other V4 countries). Thus, it can be great opportunity for CSOs to learn how to work with these civic energy.
Moreover, several CSOs in Poalnd, mostly watchdogs and these working in human rights area were put in front of the new problems, including those related to protecting citizens' privacy (i.e. against goverment try to establish an app monitoirng social distancing and social connections). And in this work CSOs in Poland were quite successful, as they were able to draw people attention to the problem and stop government from launching this app in a less safe version. There are several other examples, how civil society, after changing their mode of work, could positively answer current needs that were created after the Covid-19 outbreak.
